GLOVER: Ford admits to not being aware of Therme’s financial troubles despite handing them billions of taxpayer dollars

TORONTO - NDP MPP Chris Glover (Spadina–Fort York), whose riding includes Ontario Place, released the following statement in response to Premier Doug Ford’s admission he was unaware of financial red flags flagged in Therme Group’s audited reports:

“It’s incredibly irresponsible that Doug Ford signed a 95-year deal to hand over Ontario Place without even knowing that Therme’s own auditors had raised serious concerns about its finances.

“How is this a possibility? The Premier didn’t even bother to look into the financial stability of a foreign company before giving away our waterfront for nearly a century?

Ford keeps calling this a ‘world-class’ deal, but Ontarians can see it for what it is: reckless and irresponsible. He’s ignored red flags, he’s locked us into the worst deal in Ontario’s history, and now he wants people to just ‘trust him’? It’s time to scrap this giveaway and fix this mess.”
